Winklern has a modest and idyllic offer of cross-country trails. In Heiligenblut, approx. 22 km distant, you can find another well-kept network of cross-country trails that's altogether approx. 17 km long.
The Sonnblick trail is a 3 km long trail with hardly any ascends, which makes it well suited for beginners. The high altitude trail at Fallbichl is a little more ambitious, but manageable even with a medium level of experience. At 8 km the Mölloipe in Großkirchheim (trail) is the longest one in the holiday region.
Those who want to newly learn this healthy and wonderful type of sports can book special lessons in resorts. It's worth a try enjoy the mountain air against the backdrop of beautiful landscapes!
